Comprehensively measure acute psychopathology in the elderly

Clinical Assessment Scales for the Elderly™

The Clinical Assessment Scales for the Elderly (CASE) is a set of four instruments designed to assist the clinician in the diagnosis of clinical disorders with individuals ages 55 to 90 years. It was developed as there are few clinical instruments designed specifically for those in this age group, the largest growing segment of the population.  Choose from either the full version or the short forms.
  • Two self-report instruments, the CASE Form S and a brief, screening version of the self-report test, the CASE Short Form (CASE-SF) Form S.
  • Two behavior rating scales, the CASE Form R and a brief, screening version, the CASE-SF Form R.
Any person knowledgeable enough about the person being examined to answer the various questions about his or her behavior may complete the CASE Form R and the CASE-SF Form R. Typically this will be a caregiver such as a spouse, child, home healthcare worker, sibling, or perhaps a nurse or assistant in a nursing home or assisted living center.

Use the CASE to Aid in the Diagnosis of Axis 1 Clinical Disorders

Look to the CASE's 10 clinical scales to help in your process of differential diagnosis.  Assess your clients for anxiety, cognitive competence, fear of aging, OCD, paranoia, psychoticism, somatization, mania, and substance abuse.

Administer the full-length CASE in 40 minutes or less and the short forms in 15 minutes or less.
