Melissa E. Milanak, PhD, is a licensed clinical psychologist with a doctorate in clinical and community psychology and internationally recognized academic for her work with sleep disorders and trauma. She has served as an associate professor and director of continuing education for the Medical University of South Carolina’s Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences and has extensive research and clinical experience providing therapy and conducting assessments with a diverse array of patient populations specializing in trauma, PTSD, addictions, anxiety and sleep disorders.

Melissa is a training/education/dissemination deputy for the International Society for Traumatic Stress Studies (ISTSS), has served in various leadership roles for the Society of Behavioral Sleep Medicine (SBSM), and is an active member of the Sleep Research Society (SRS), the Association for Behavioral and Cognitive Therapies (ABCT), and the American Psychological Association (APA).

She serves as an editorial board member on the Journal of Child & Adolescent Substance Abuse and is an ad hoc reviewer for several journals, including the American Journal of Preventive Medicine and the Journal of Psychopathology and Behavioral Assessment.
