Melissa E. Milanak, PhD, is a licensed clinical psychologist, keynote speaker, and internationally recognized academic with expertise in sleep disorders, anxiety, trauma, and workplace wellbeing. She has served as an associate professor and director of continuing education for the Medical University of South Carolina’s Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences and has extensive research and clinical experience providing therapy and conducting assessments with a diverse array of patient populations.  

Dr. Milanak holds numerous leadership positions for professional and scientific societies, including training/education/dissemination deputy for the International Society for Traumatic Stress Studies (ISTSS) and various leadership roles for the Society of Behavioral Sleep Medicine (SBSM). She holds editorial and ad hoc reviewer positions for multiple peer-reviewed journals, has authored more than 20 peer-reviewed research publications, and has been conducting conference presentations and participating in invited talks for over 20 years. She also speaks and conducts training across the U.S. and internationally for organizations such as Barron’s Financial and the African CDC. 

Melissa has helped develop new programs that promote workplace wellbeing and reduce mental health stigma. She currently serves as a  Clinical Assessment Advisor for PAR Healthcare, helping providers and organizations effectively use assessment instruments to augment best practices. 

She holds advisory roles for multiple community boards and mental health and wellbeing organizations, and actively volunteers, including serving as co-lead for the Support to the Armed Forces American Red Cross Resiliency Program.
