Psychologists are navigating a pivotal moment: artificial intelligence is reshaping assessment workflows, expectations, and the tools available to support high‑quality evaluation. Amid this rapid evolution, PAR’s guiding principle remains unchanged: psychologists belong at the center of every evaluation, every interpretation, and every decision. This commitment is why we are excited to announce a new collaboration with Adam Lockwood, PhD, NCSP, a leading voice in ethical, clinician‑directed AI for psychological practice.
Together, PAR and Dr. Lockwood are exploring how AI can be used responsibly, transparently, and thoughtfully. AI should never act as a replacement for professional judgment, but as a tool that strengthens it. When designed with integrity, it can reduce administrative burden, improve the clarity and cohesion of reports, and give psychologists back precious time for what matters most: clinical thinking and client care.
This collaboration arrives at a meaningful time for our field, building on PAR’s long‑standing commitment to developing tools that elevate, empower, and protect psychologists. It also sets the stage for the next major evolution in assessment: responsible, clinician‑first AI‑assisted reporting
Dr. Adam Lockwood is known for his work at the intersection of psychology, education, and artificial intelligence, with a focus on clinician‑in‑the‑loop design, governance frameworks, and protecting test integrity—values deeply aligned with PAR’s own approach to innovation. As a licensed psychologist in Oregon and Ohio and an Associate Professor of School Psychology at Kent State University, his work centers on integrating AI into practice in ways that enhance, rather than diminish, professional judgment.
Beyond academia, Dr. Lockwood leads Lockwood Educational & Psychological Consulting, partnering with schools, districts, and practices to implement AI safely and effectively. His consulting spans AI policy development, implementation strategy, ethical decision‑making, and professional development. Through widely attended workshops, keynotes, and applied trainings, he helps teams reduce workload, improve service quality, and adopt AI tools without compromising ethics or fidelity to best practices.
In both research and applied practice, Dr. Lockwood stresses that AI should extend, not replace, professional expertise. He focuses on the same considerations that have shaped PAR’s decades of leadership in test development: maintaining test integrity, protecting sensitive data, and honoring the interpretive nuance required in every evaluation.
These shared values formed the foundation for a natural collaboration. Together, PAR and Dr. Lockwood aim to advance AI tools that are powerful yet ethically grounded, clinically responsible, transparent, and aligned with established professional standards.
It is a partnership built on mutual respect, complementary expertise, and a shared vision for responsible innovation in psychological assessment.
PAR’s AI Report Writer, launched last year, further supports this mission. The first report available within AI Report Writer is PsychEd Report, created specifically for school psychologists and professionals conducting psychoeducational evaluations. Built within the secure, closed PARiConnect system, it is designed to be flexible, customizable, and aligned with best practices.
AI Report Writer helps clinicians draft clear, structured psychoeducational reports more efficiently by:
For many clinicians, report writing is one of the most time‑intensive responsibilities. School psychologists spend an average of 25 hours per week writing assessment reports, and frequent users of AI Report Writer save up to six hours weekly. This helps to alleviate school psychologist burnout, giving users time back to spend where it matters most.
Tools like AI Report Writer are proving more and more valuable for psychologists, and Dr. Adam Lockwood offers key insights into how these tools can be used best. He brings these insights directly to practitioners through his PARtalks webinar series, “Responsible Integration of AI in Psychology.”
Part 1 explores the rapid adoption of AI tools by psychologists, focusing on how AI can support report writing, data interpretation, and administrative tasks, while also addressing perceived barriers such as ethical concerns, training gaps, and institutional policies.
Part 2, “From Principles to Practice,” examines how psychologists can integrate AI into their workflows using an ethical decision‑making lens. Across both CE‑eligible sessions, Dr. Lockwood provides strategies for upholding ethical standards, maintaining sound judgment, and ensuring accountability when using AI.
As the assessment landscape continues to evolve, psychologists deserve tools that honor the complexity of their work and amplify their clinical expertise. PAR’s collaboration with Dr. Adam Lockwood reflects a shared belief that responsible AI can elevate psychological practice when guided by ethical principles, transparent design, and a deep respect for professional judgment.
Together, we remain committed to developing solutions that protect test integrity, uphold the highest standards of practice, and give clinicians more time for what only they can do: interpret thoughtfully, think deeply, and care with rigor and compassion.
By combining PAR’s decades of assessment leadership with Dr. Lockwood’s expertise in ethical AI implementation, we are building a future of innovation that is both progressive and principled. This ensures psychologists remain firmly at the center of every evaluation, even as technology evolves around them.
